The PTR100 Inline Refractometer, marketed under the brand name PrismaTech, is designed using cutting-edge technology and high-quality components to measure, display, and control the concentration of transparent and non-transparent solutions.
The sensor unit of this device is installed directly on pipelines or tanks. It continuously measures the refractive index and temperature of the solution—two key factors that affect concentration. After performing complex calculations and a three-step calibration and compensation process, the device displays the solution concentration in Brix units.
In addition to displaying measurement results, the system transmits data via digital (RS485) or analog (0/4–20 mA) output ports to a local controller (such as a PLC). In the PrismaTech PTR100 model, the sensor unit and the control/display unit are separate.
One of the unique features of the Inline Refractometer is its automatic PID-based concentration control, which eliminates the need for an external local controller.
The set point and all controller parameters (such as proportional, integral, and derivative coefficients) are fully adjustable by the user.
Digital inline refractometers, or digital Brix meters, operate using an LED that illuminates the sample positioned above a prism. The refracted light is then detected by a sensor, allowing the device to determine the angle of refraction.
Because the measurement is temperature-dependent, the refractometer automatically applies temperature compensation through dedicated algorithms, converting the results into the refractive index or other specific parameters.
